RUAKAKA EDUCARE
Being built in the existing Ruakaka Village, this new Childcare building was required to fit in with the surrounding area, aesthetically matching existing buildings & allowing future buildings to fit between the New Childcare & existing buildings.
The simple but modern entry facade allows the building to suit its environment, allowing any future surrounding developments to effortlessly tie in with this building through its own design. With the exterior shell of the building as precast concrete panels, the facade is broken up with the use of horizontal weatherboards, contrasting the low maintenance concrete to create an effortless modern aesthetic.
Use of the precast Concrete panels allows to maximise the open plan areas; with light & ventilation being key aspects to a successful learning environment, having two separate open plan areas on either side of the building creates the desired environment. Acoustics in the building is a key area in the design, having the Ruakaka Library as the neighbouring building.

Complementing the simple & modern façade, the internal design follows the same design idea, with the exposed concrete & structural steel in the open plan areas complimented by the acoustically rated wall linings.
In the separate internal rooms, a mix of commercial grade carpet tiles and vinyl, selected after years completing school projects, ensures maximum durability through heavy traffic areas around the building.
